: Cover design includes photograph of a daguerrotype depicting a woman with an 1850s hair style in a frame. Note 2.) Summary: The narrator visits his childhood home, finds a trunk in the attic, inside of which is a daguerrotype of his mother. Seeing the image brings back sweet memories of her; although she is dead, the narrator feels remorse for his sins that she had to withstand.
