: "Drawn, engraved, printed, published & sold by W. Hooker, wholesale & retail at the nautical store of E. & G.W. Blunt, No. 179 Water Street, cor. Burling Slip, where all the nautical works of Edm. M. Blunt are published & by him inspected." Note 2.) "Entered according to act of Congress in the year 1833, by William Hooker, in the Clerk's Office of the District Court of the Southern District of New York." Note 3.) Additions to 1838. Note 4.) Covers Manhattan south of 15th Street on the west side and south of 31st Street on the east side. Note 5.) Includes lists of distributors, churches, markets, banks, newspapers, colleges, theaters, gardens, and public buildings. Note 6.) National Endowment for the Humanities Grant for Access to Early Maps of the Middle Atlantic Seaboard. Note 7.) NYPL copy has inscription inside front cover: Holbrook Albion, Novr. 3d, 1839. Note 8.) Shows ward boundaries.
