Daher konnte Generalfeldmarschall Göring 34 Arbeitern das Kriegsverdienstkreuz verleihen, die unter schwierigsten Witterungsverhältnissen eilige Bauten für die deutsche Luftwaffe hergestellt hatten." Note 2.) Picture caption: "Auch die Heimat setzt sich mit voller Kraft ein. Daher konnte Generalfeldmarschall Göring 34 Arbeitern das Kriegsverdienstkreuz verleihen, die unter schwierigsten Witterungsverhältnissen eilige Bauten für die deutsche Luftwaffe hergestellt hatten." Note 3.) Title translates German picture caption Note 4.) A sort of civil version of the Iron Cross, the War Service Cross was awarded to civilians for bravery or devotion to duty on the home front. Note that Goering is uncharacteristically not in uniform.
