: Picture caption: "Nach mehrtägigen pausenlosen Feuer schwerster Artillerie und zusammengefaßter Luftangriffe beginnt der Sturm der deutschen und verbündeten Truppen auf die stärkste Land= und Zeefestung Sewastopol. In äußerst harten und erbitterten Kämpfen gelingt es am 17. Juni, das Fort Sibirien zu nehmen. Infanterie nimmt einem Bunker im direkten Beschuss unter Feuer." Note 2.) Printed above caption: "PBZ., Kriegsberichter Karback" Note 3.) The final German attack on the besieged Russian naval base/port of Sevastopol on the Crimean peninsula started on 2 June, 1942. These soldiers are firing an anti-tank gun at a bunker, using its armor-piercing shell to penetrate the concrete defenses. Note 4.) Title translates German picture caption
