: "Lützow" was both the name of a Prussian general and the World War I battle cruiser named for him. Hitler also did not want a ship named "Deutschland" (Germany) to be sunk. Note 2.) Picture caption: "Monatlang haben die Engländer im Nord- und Südatlantik das Panzerschiff "Deutschland" gejagt, ohne Erfolg! Nach langer erfolgreicher Feindfahrt kehrte es in die Heimat zurück. Der Führer befahl seine Umtaufe auf den Namen "Lützow". "Deutschland" wird ein größeres Kriegsschiff heißen." Note 3.) Title translates German picture caption
