: A studio portrait of Lillian Russell, ca. 1915, seated with right arm resting on an unseen support which is covered with a rug. Probably used as a token gift by Russell. Note 2.) Card folder torn, edges missing. Note 3.) Image is autographed by Lillian Russell and is enclosed in a card folder with "Compliments of Lillian Russell" printed on the front; the name is a signature. Note 4.) National Endowment for the Arts Millennium Project. Note 5.) Part of a photograph series made by the White Studio, New York, N.Y., many of which appeared in newspaper and magazines articles about Lillian Russell. On Sept. 28, 1915, the Cleveland Plain Dealer printed the photo with Russell identified as "Mrs. Lillian Russell-Braham-Solomon-Chatterton-Moore", a reference to Russell's many marriages and the public's fascination with them. The photograph also appeared Jan. 2, 1916 in the San Francisco Pos ....
