: Printed on the image: "...Down in the valley between the high hills, is the lovely little village of Roslyn. Before the by-pass was built over Hempstead Harbor all motorists driving along the North Shore went down through the village and past this not-to-be-missed landmark; the Roslyn Clock Tower. Erected in 1895 in memory of Ellen Ward, widow of Elijah Ward, a one-time Judge-Advocate in the state and at another time a member of Congress."
