Notes

: A cithara is an ancient musical instrument with strings and a wooden sound box. A quadriga is a chariot pulled by a team of four horses. Delos is the smallest of the Cyclades Islands off the coast of Greece. It was home to a great sanctuary dedicated to Apollo, where festivals were held in his honor. Note 2.) Written under image: "Apollo wreathed with laurel plays his cithara as he stands beside the quadriga driven by Diana (Artemis to the Greeks) who holds the reins and a whip. The palm indicates the Island of Delos. Hamilton Collection."
