Production Notes

: Original Broadway Production-Opened at the Shubert Theater on November 30, 1955. It was not generally well-received. It was based on the novel Sweet Thursday by John Steinbeck and portrayed a diverse population, although the prostitute heroine was reduced to a visiting nurse in the show. The problems were compounded by the absence of Rodgers at rehearsals; he was recouperating from a cancerous growth in his jaw. The leading lady, a Wagneria ....
